Jacob Montgomery is California Trout’s Central Valley Project Manager specializing in plankton population dynamics and food web production. He currently manages CalTrout’s Fish Food program using Sacramento Valley rice farms as a surrogate floodplain habitat and developing innovative farm water management practices to reconnect floodplain resources with salmon populations using existing flood control infrastructure.
He drops by the studio to give us an update on the Fish Food project (AKA Nigiri Project) that he and the rest of the CalTrout team are doing to ensure that future generations of salmon can survive in our drastically altered California valley watersheds.
