A welcome to the hunt... The bonus episode of the hundredth episode of the marvelous life mission got podcast. That rolls right off the tongue. It does. Yeah. That was a normal intro, the like butter, lincoln of butter.
So this one's a little bit different than you guys are normally used to.
We've we've had a lot of, direct messages, calls from people saying, hey,
why don't you guys like, talk about yourselves, in at least a month so we can kinda get to know you And then what you guys... What the plans are for the podcast and also the brand. And we haven't done it because it's not that interesting.
Work mi you're about to find out. No, I don't know know that. So...
Anyway,
the hundreds of episode was the the stripe
episode,
And if you guys haven't listened to it, you should listen to it because it's pretty amazing.
That one just published along with this one today.
So anyway, we're going to kinda switch... Flip the script on this one,
We've got a celebrity guest, chef who's also going to be a host today.
He's been on the... He's been on the podcast before. His name is Jason Ko. Jason. Hi?
Hello, gentlemen. Are you ready for this?
I think I can do it. So if you guys don't know who Jason is he... He's one of the c owners of the crush restaurant in Downtown Chico. And Jason's
also one of our very best friends up here in chico. We do a lot of fishing with him. He's been a lot, a lot a lot of time in the car with us.
So he's kind of, like, understands where we're... Where we wanna take this this boat,
and he's got a bunch of questions as a fan because he listens a lot.
Nick is here, Hi Nick.
What buddy. Are you ready to do this? No. It's a little... It's uncharted water for us, but we're gonna give it a try. Because we did it with hot. We did it with Rick, and it... It... It was... It's pretty good. Yeah. He had a lot of questions ready to go. Yeah. Yeah.
So,
we're gonna turn over the hosting duties to
to Jason,
and we are now going to become the interview e. I saw new territory for you guys. It is. Oh, welcome listeners to the show.
I think we're gonna start off. We'll just talk a little bit about Nick and chad. Where they a microphone to you So. Thank you. Right. Okay. And I should have told you before, but sorry You're gonna cut all that out. No. It's in. Alright. Perfect. It's my new job here.
We'll talk a little bit about Nick and Chad where they came from,
you know, Nick is an Uber talented
dynamic fisherman. If he... If he's on the water, you
he's catching fish. So... You don't wanna be behind me? One a hundred percent.
You know, I've always looked up to you. You're one of those guys that,
you know, you really take out new people fishing.
You know, you teach people your spots, all the stuff. You you've been spectacular. So you wanna talk a little bit about you're you're a local Chico guy. Well, I think that my passion that just one resides in taking people out and sharing that passion for the sport with other people. You know? That's that's what I I get off on, and I think that's what's
exciting
for me and it used to be pretty competitive. I wanted to go catch as many fish as I could, you know, learn as much as I could.
And and actually, over the series of all these different episodes, it's learn more about
That's not what it's about. It's about. Oh, and you had a kid. That that
that kinda slows all that down. It's it's just about
you know,
meeting all these cool people that we've been interviewing and, you know,
even though I've been doing this for a lifetime, I've learned more in the two or three years of doing this podcast and I have the entire my entire life efficient, which is pretty cool. And scary. Because before you started, we always thought you knew everything
about fly fishing and all that stuff. So for you to be out here, you're asking questions. You're learning.
Tell us a little bit about what you do during the today when you're not fishing. Yeah. So it's pretty crazy. This next month marks ten years exactly. And being a financial adviser with the New York life.
Ten years one by on a blink of an eye. Crazy. Pretty well. I go faster too. Trust me. I'm realizing that with an eight month old. That was, like, just a little baby. Yeah. You know, see like he was just out of the oven, like, just last week. And he was farting in your arms. Yeah. Literally.
Blowing up on me.
No. So that's that's where my other passion resides I love
you know, teaching people about this industry, You know, I don't consider myself much as a salesman as more of an educator, you know, trying to teach people how to
maximize and protect their standard of living
in the financial world. So
And and that's different for everybody. And I think that's what I love about my job more
is that not every... It's not the same. Alright right? Every day is a little bit different. Everybody has different needs, and it's it's, you know, I love figuring all that stuff out and working with different business owners, families.
Again, trying to just help help them in any way financially.
So when I'm not doing that, obviously, we're we're recording this or we're chasing fish out on the river, you know? Yeah. So you're a good life man. Father husband that moon moonlight as a financial adviser.
Yep. Yep. Gotta pay the bills somehow. I understand. Especially not.
Or he or easy. Nick makes it look easy. And if you guys don't know Nick or having fish with Nick. He... You know, he really gets excited when he takes people fishing in may catch fish like, Yeah. That's almost better for him than him catching fish. Now he always throws one cast and sticks the biggest fish. Happens every time, but he loves teaching people out of fish. Yeah. Getting people on the fish.
Moving on to chad here. Wait before we leave Nick, I got one thing to say.
So when I first, my first experience on the coast was with Nick. And,
like, it was literally my first deal had a cut a half pounder, and I thought I was just a stud, you know, and and I know those guys were probably laughing kind of under their breath about me one handing this this deal head and thinking it was super awesome, But I... It was a really...
It was a moment for me that was, like, you know, it kind of like was the thing that really got me fired up about just fly fishing in general.
And, you know, going going with Nick, like, the thing about about his skill set, you know, there's there's guys that, like, understand the tactics and everything, but there's also
a few. I mean, I fish with a lot more people now, but there's still just a a very small percentage and Nick's, like, right at the top
that
he's got, like, this economy of motion in
how he casts and how he moves and it's, like, I... The the only way I can explain it is, like,
if you... You see a little kid go to piano at six years old, and he just starts shred, like, the Sa of the the piano there's Sa of whatever they do, you know, and they... It just comes natural. And I've seen that like, on the Baseball field a few times, but it's pretty rare, and that's pretty cool to to, like, know you and see that that happen, and then also,
obviously, all the technical pieces that you bring to it, and you can also get that across to people.
I've also, like, most of the stuff I've learned especially in the first two years was from you and I thank you so much for, like, bringing me up as fast as I could humanly possible do it.
And all the guests we've had on on top of that. It's just been... You know, I've had, like,
education of fly and education that you could probably get... It would take thirty years normally, you know I got it in in, like, three.
Of this shows all about. So that's Yeah. That's cool pretty cool. And and, you know, if you watch... Or if you listen to shows, you'll like, And if you've been there since day one, you probably have... You can kind, like, infer
Kind of...
I don't know how I progressed through the sport. We're still working on that. Yeah. And I'm still... I'm nowhere near. And I'm nowhere near where I wanna be, but I'm definitely out I'll waive further, you know, ahead where I started from. That's. Well, that's that's cool. That's... It kinda goes to, like, why we started this podcast and telling stories about
fishing and a certain river, and you're just like, oh, my god, That needs to be recorded. You know, Like you get so excited about. There's a little story about something like that. And and I'm over here trying to
protect
some of the secrets and things that I've learned learned
throughout this industry. It's a hard... It's a hard dynamic. Like, I don't wanna Yeah. I don't wanna make people upset because they've spent a lot of time learning officially, and then we just come in and and talk about it and then, you know, I don't want people to think that we're trying to
what what's the word I'm looking for?
Blow up a a spot. Yeah. Yeah. We're just, yeah. Give out too too much information. And it it's... And that's what's neat about this this
industry yet and those words are kind and I... I still feel like I'm gonna learn for the rest of my life. You know, like I haven't figured it out by any means. Yeah. It's gonna be a lifetime of learning. So it's pretty it's pretty cool. Yep. It's always evolving. Times are changing.
Yeah. In my world, the cooking business, you used just to have a bunch of secrets. You know, you used just have to go work for a chef. And right to be able to learn all these little things Now you open up Youtube. There's fifty thousand videos on everything that you worked your whole career for. Yeah. And I think that's, you know, social media is doing that in the fishing game. Spots are getting blown up, but a good thing is, I I, hopefully, I'll get more people out fishing. I grew up in a in a time when people were being blind to go to a hole. Like, your friend was... You know, he's like hey You wanna go. I got this cool spot, you know, on this beach and,
and you getting in the car and all of a sudden, you're being blind. You're like, what?
Now if you... If now if you find yourself in a car with blind on, and we're going out to somewhere, you're getting raped. You're basically getting raped. So
yeah. We're excited, I guess. Well, and even, like, you know, we interviewed Christian the other day and and he's notorious Yeah. And he... And he brought it up. He's like, he's finished all over the world. You know, He's like, hey. Some of some of those places you you still need to keep quiet. You know? And you still need to keep protected and and
So it's a tough balance, but it it's been fun. Yeah. We we do our best to kinda make sure that there's certain, you know, rivers and and and really specific things we don't talk about because I think those are the Easter eggs that if you put enough dedication and you'll find along the way. Yep. Yeah.
Good way to put it. Yeah.
What else, Jason? Well, let's talk a little bit about Chad. Chad may not be the Uber talented
natural fly remember, but no one's worked harder at it than him.
I mean, when I'm at Chad, he just started fly fishing again, and I mean this guy got a guy every week. He was at a new location.
He hit it hard. I mean, no one puts more time into things than you. When you when you get on to something you get on it. If you wanna talk a little bit about, you know, like, I I think sometimes this. But... Yeah. It can be. Yeah.
You you dive deep into things. Yeah. Early early on and you, you know, you're fly fish. Correct I think your dad fly fish. Correct?
Yeah. Did you go a lot when you work at? No.
So I I grew up in Princeton, California,
which if you guys don't where that is, it's a top metropolis south of Chico to the population of about five hundred people.
Had thirteen kids in my class, and we... So my parents divorced at a at a pretty early age. And so I saw my dad, like, occasionally. And when I did, it was on the weekends. And if if we... If it was on a weekend, we're usually camping.
So that was kinda like my first introduction into it is is you know, up in the hills actually in Lake Elm and those campground up there and fish and, like, the North fork and stuff,
very limited, like, my dad kinda... He just tight line N, but with the with a sink and and it's pretty pretty old school
stuff. But that's... You know, that was my introduction into it. And then when I, you know, got out of high school and everything. I didn't even think about it for shoot.
Several, tens of years, like, not until recently, really and until the last four years.
Well, you were building your career. I mean, and you're under the computer,
the computer world. So you built software. So... Yeah. I'm like,
software designer, software architect by trade,
design architect
I would like to say because there is an engineering architect. It's completely different. But
yeah. I I design software for living a product managed, so that's, you know, it's kind of, like, you know, managing products, you know, like, what they... What they're supposed to do how they're supposed to function, and then
I worked at a bunch of different startups ups in, like, the late nineties, and then all through
the two thousands and late two thousands,
Well, I guess the late nineties,
I started at ebay. I was there for ten years.
And then, you know, I was on... A search engine team, and then I was on the application platform team.
Doing product management and user interface design, and then,
kinda got fed up at the corporate world and decided to start my own business and start a business down in La.
With the dude that we we sold and then I started my own company,
to this day, it's called the amped up build. It. We've been, you know, sponsoring the podcast up to this point.
So you probably hear it on the end of the the bumper on this this... Not this episode because we have new stuff. We'll talk about that in a second. But,
yeah. Anyway,
We... So I started... I got married down in La,
lived in Santa Monica, moved back up to to Chico, which I consider my hometown because I went to Chico State
to start a family kinda... That didn't really work out. So... But I'm still here and then right around the time we moved up here,
that's when I met Nick,
and then the whole, you know, the bunny hole of fly fishing started.
I went from playing video games for thirty hours a week too, and fly fishing. That's such a trip to me interesting.
Absolutely.
But that's typical sad fashion. He when he gets into something, he gets into a, and he came from a high stress, like he said, environment and and that... And
Actually, he he got me thinking about it more than anything is I was just fishing because I was part of my lifestyle, but he does it a lot because it brings them back down into a company... Just being it's like the therapy. Yeah.
And it and it really opened my that, and I I I started realizing it because you get lost in some of that stuff, but you start paying attention. It's like, yeah. You feel so much better when you go do a hike down a little creative that you you haven't been on for a long time. I chasing a little tiny trial. Like I was... Wanting to chase Stripe and steel head and he opened the trial game back up to me and it kinda... I was like, you're... There's more than this this than
competing. I always laugh because I see folks in in the Bay Area and and in La struggling, you know, to kinda like manage their stress.
And a lot of times, they'll go do yoga or they'll they'll get, you know, guided meditation or they'll listen to tapes or whatever.
And that... That's a great... That's a great thing to do, obviously, but I swear, like fly and meditation without having to try to meditate because it just puts you in in this,
like,
p kind of a stage where you're just you're you're hunting. Right? And you're in the moment, and that's really what meditation is all about as being in the moment, not thinking about anything else. So fly fishing for me puts me in the moment, You know, And video games do too, and that's that's why they appeal to a lot of people and and a lot people that kinda poop give video check.
Yeah. And tour check or or tiring flies. Or making model airplanes or whatever it is. Wherein when you find
you're in some sort of an activity and you... In the passage of time is irrelevant,
that's being in the moment. And a lot... For a lot of people, they don't really have those outlets. So, like, fly fishing for me, that's you know, one of the reasons it appeals to me.
It's funny outdoors. I think about that. Like, when you're fly fishing, I don't even eat. I don't think about food. Don't thinking about.
Yeah. And it seems you play video games, like, you... When you start at ten o'clock knicks and you know it's three Am. And you're like, what just happened.
Can he's. I understand Always bring food. Nick never brings food. But
you. So... But, yeah, you're disconnected. There's no cell phones. There's no emails. There's no Internet. You're out there,
nature.
Talk about a little bit about where you and Nick met. So you guys met at a party, A mutual friend. We actually... Know. We met before that. We met at a a restaurant. We were eating lunch, and Chad and and Seriously we were on the one side, and I was there eating with my buddies on the other. And we were talking fishing and we were
I forget what we were talking about, but he overheard it and started saying out like, oh, guys are fishing. Like I'm... And he was going with a buddy of mine Frank hastings on a guided trip. Mh.
And it was... I was, man. I I should've have got that guys and we left. Never said anything. I was, man. I should've got that guy's number.
And and then we... And then, like, six months later or five months later, we met at a a party,
mutual friend's party. Carson party. Yeah. Yeah.
At Christmas party. And we started talking about an app idea and he's... He had an app idea. I had an app idea and then we basically We were in garage stuck at the hip garage and, like,
three hours went by and my my wife at the time comes in. She's, like, where the F you band? I'm like, been in the garage talking this dude about fly fishing and the apps stuff.
Just like, oh, okay. And me see. Yeah. Anyway, yeah. That's how we met. Jason. Yeah. I remember those times. I remember Nick coming into crush and... Oh, I'm gonna start a podcast and I sit her thinking what. And then I met, you know, we went on this fishing trip. You guys had started the podcast,
maybe two months earlier.
Why did you guys decide to start with the podcast instead of all these apps.
Well,
that's a good question. We started it at the same... Basically at the same time, and we started design and, you that at the same time, but the podcast is is just a it's a great platform to get a message out. And
and especially talking with Chad about all the things. Like, we're sitting there around the couch telling stories, he's, like, this needs to be in a podcast. This needs to be and I wasn't really you either listen to podcast or you don't. Right? And there's people that are slowly filtering into that world.
And realizing that instead of listening to the same song over and over again. They can learn a lot and driving down the road.
Yeah.
So my my answer to that question is there there's two reasons.
One, it came from a very you know, selfish place for me because I knew that my network would explode if I started doing interviews with with people that were in the industry,
and we're super knowledgeable.
That's one. That... So that... That's one piece of. The other piece of it is as Nick alluded to is, you know, we we started the the effort on Barb as a company
at roughly the same time.
So as a brand platform to talk about
issues that are that are relevant to not only the brand, but us
individually, and also to just kind of start to build a relationship with our with our target market,
it was... It just made sense. You know, because the the stuff we're working on, it has, a multi month and some some sometimes multi year kind of a,
arc to them. So it it's... We knew going in. It was gonna take some time to build this up. So rather than, you know,
not market until we've got product, we said, hey, let's start a podcast and at least get the conversation going and build a relationship up with our listeners
so that when we're ready to, you know, put these these apps out in the wild, we have a an audience and b
folks that trust us and are passionate about the brand.
And and hopefully, trust us enough to know that if they're transparent with their feedback and what we're doing and give us on his feedback we're not only gonna, like, take it very seriously, but also take action on it and try and make this this product service thing that we're building as as good as possible.
Yeah. And I think you guys accomplished all that and so much more. You know, just listening from the early years of the podcast can now. It's like I can't believe how much you've grown involved. Yeah. I can't believe how much information I've gotten. I can't believe the people you guys are getting on the show. Yeah. I this thing is so much more than I ever thought it would be. Yeah. And I don't know about You too. I mean, did you guys think it would get to this point? Could you think you'd have the amount of listeners?
I I thought that I thought that the medium. The podcast is a medium is
very very... But very, very powerful, for for two reasons. One,
we are storyteller by nature. This whole idea of broadcast television
it is fairly a new thing and in just a couple generations. Right? We've, you know,
generations and generations before us.
We've we've passed on knowledge through either written words in the last part of the
of the human
cycle, but it's been mostly through verbal written, you know, verbal communicated stories. So
the podcast is a medium from, like, an audio perspective and just the the spoken word
is something that people are super familiar with. It's like, almost sitting around the campfire, and we've talked about that on on the the show before on the the effects you get on that. So
as a medium. It's just... It's really really great for that for that reason. Sure. And you guys mix it up well. You you have informational all episodes. You got storytelling episodes. You guys got yeah. Really cool guys coming on talking
sales. Yeah. From biologists to,
you know, water resort, all the stuff you guys talk about. You cover a broad range
with a lot of listeners. Yeah. And we we try to because, you know, there's there's a lot of podcasts out there that do... That talk fly fishing, and they... It's really, you know, people
it's a lot of fishing stories, and those are great. Like, I love love love love what April V he's doing because she's memorial
the... Some of the the titans in the industry and telling those stories before these guys pass away. You know, and they... Those those are human interest stories that are really good, and she's, like, cornered the market on that, and I think that she... That's that's her thing and she just... Her... She's an incredible interviewer also. I mean, she's killer. If you guys don't listen to her you should.
The other... You know, the other piece of of this, as a medium,
just from a distribution,
standpoint, a podcast for a brand is is super super cool because
everybody's got
you know, their their podcast player on their iphone already by default.
So we don't have to, like, push somebody to go install an app and all that because that... There's some friction there.
Android is the same way they have Google Play. So from a distribution perspective, it makes a lot of sense too.
So does Answer the question? Absolutely. Cool. Thank you.
In in twenty minutes or less. We got there.
Let's look back you know, early year, early episodes. You know, I don't know, season one might have been twenty, thirty episodes long.
You guys were just starting out. You finding your way. Pretty sure we deleted a couple episodes. Yeah. Especially our first one. You remember that piece of shift that we recorded. There was just suing and me. We drunk got drunk before we started hammered. I I was like three... I think I drank three eight ounce
and I'm not even kidding, like, eight ounce
just just straight Martini.
Yeah. Yeah. It would... It needless to say it didn't make it. We gotta drop that in a thousand thousand. We might.
And So going back, you know, we're looking at season one. What
let's talk a little bit about Nick. What what's your favorite episode? Yeah. They all blur together. I mean, just talk about seasons. Hard to imagine that there's been three seasons. But...
And it's hard to pick a favorite. You know, Like, I think the... Like I was talking about earlier, the cool thing about doing this is that the the guest that we've had on and the relationships that we've gathered throughout this time period is is so valuable and and just amazing. And I there's it's hard to, like, pick a favorite out of all that. Yeah. I I I say gun to your head. You gotta pick a favorite child. Oh, what what did you like the most? I mean, going down the middle fork doing it on the water, that had to be... Yeah. That was pretty cool. Pretty cool. That was one I have written down actually. You know. I mean, you guys are in the middle of Idaho,
Well, that was and the waters banging against the boat gun ons. We're going down Class four rapids. Right guys are are just in the shit. These arms are actually... That's filling it on the world. That's season
one
episode fourteen drifting the middle fork of the Salmon with Roy Atkins. Right? Is that I say his last name? Yep. Yep. Rick and Rig Roy? Yeah. And the reason that I like that one because I have this one written down is one of my favorites. The reason I like it was it was... I believe our first on the water
episode. So it's kind of an experiment. We were like, okay. Do you think this will work? One we're like, well, fuck it. Let's try it. If it works. It's gonna be pretty cool.
And you know, we've since done several on the waters.
Now. And and, like, a the feedback on those always very positive. People just, you know, if you... They can't get on the river. This is kinda of their outlet, You know, they can kinda, like, live vic through
the the the mic because they feel like they're on the boat. Yeah. It's fun to hear the guides in their element.
Absolutely. You know, you guys are
spectacular fisherman. I mean,
you guys are on the boat, You're listening to the guide. You get their little insight on what maybe a guy trip would be like? Yeah. If you're a little nervous or new sport. Yeah. You know, what's it gonna be like getting on a boat in the lower sack with a guide. You can kinda get a feel for it. That's a good point and never thought about that. Like, it's a people that are are guide curious. We could say. Guide curious. Absolutely like, what what's that even like? You know, If you... If you're one of those people listening, and you haven't gotten a guide yet.
The lower Sacks probably a great
a great guided trip for a newbie to get into the sport and kinda understand, like, what's possible?
It's a spectacular beneficiary. I gotta go back and look at these list, but, yeah. So I didn't realize, but that becoming a steel head trout. It's either a trout or a steel head episode that we did with Fish bio. Oh, yeah. That was the last season one. That. That that was probably one of my my favorites. Yeah. That one, which... I've got that one written down. It is... It's season one, episode twenty two how a trial becomes a steel head, Fish bio Matt Peterson and Michael Helm.
Those guys work at Fish bio. They... You know, they were a sponsor for the first year and a half.
And they've come on several times super knowledgeable team, super great guys.
Thank you dudes for coming on the show and supporting us with all your your brains.
Another one, I think for for the first season with... If you you can't you can't talk about season one and not mention here... Henry Lame mel.
Yeah. Sac River Rico tours episode that was, season one episode nine.
The dude is just a stud. No, I think he sent that the standard for the r podcast
moving towards e. Right? Yeah. Yeah.
Absolutely. Totally did.
He's a very dynamic speaker. He's just got an infectious kind of, love for the outdoors and the sport.
Henry, if you wanna come back on, I know I've had tried to get you several times. I wanna get you back on that. We should do it on the in the field mushroom Hunt with Henry. We we were going to, and I couldn't... I couldn't go last minute. I'll step in for that one.
And not psychedelics, they're just.
That'd be that'd be fun now. That'd be good. Yeah. We talked about doing that one. Yeah. I mean, that's... I think for season one that that pretty much in in my mind covers it... Yeah.
They're were all good, by the way. Yeah. For those
beyond. We didn't. Because they weren't great, but they were
You guys were just getting your season one was rough, you know. Yeah. Absolutely. You guys are learning you guys got, you know, make makeshift equipment. When you see what you have now compared to where you started with.
Well, I mean, the stuff we started with was still pretty bad. I mean, it was, like... You've come along with was... We just basically switched from an analog system to a digital system.
And but we still have, you know, there's still some analog pieces in, but it was really about just kind of, like,
minimizing the the the amount of gear we had to take or, in the truck to go to certain on on... Things like, when we did the Pleasant Fly efficient show episodes.
So you. But all those pieces to the puzzle make a better product So anyone that's listen from episode one to a hundred.
There's no doubt you guys have grown. Your quality has gotten better. I was just talking to somebody who mentioned Believe that they did that and and they have they have a place when somebody mentions
conservation or water issues or what's happening with the salmon or what's going on with the stripe.
They they have a a place to look back on and say, no. This actually... This is how it is. You know, or this is what I heard. Oh, and they... Their base of knowledge has just grown, like, crazy, and that they've all of a sudden become experts, you know, you could say not, but are biologist. Yeah. It's pretty it's pretty crazy. It happens to me in the restaurant. Someone will come in. We're we're talking bull bullshit or drinking and all a sudden, they bring something up. I'm like, boom back on Barb. I'm going through it.
And I'm turning people on to Barb. Too, and they're excited. So Right. Yeah. It is a great tool. Yeah. To to look back and have that episode. Yeah.
Moving into season two. I think you guys have first season you got your feet under you, you guys figured out how to do a podcast how to host a podcast. The direction you guys wanted to go and you guys are moving into, you know, season two.
You guys... Season two was at the new office here?
Yep. Kinda split between the two. Yeah. Yeah. So during season two, you moved into your home, you guys built a podcast room,
little studio. Little studio here. It's... It... You guys have come a long way now.
How did season two go? Be before I answer that, Jason. I just wanna tell you you're doing a really good job. Oh, thank you. He really is. You see how he got comfortable, Nick, and he's really... He's in the flow now It's awesome. Thanks dude. You're doing a great job.
Oh, Nick, do you wanna go on that one? For the... Our favorite episodes on season two. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm trying to scan through here. I don't really have it. The
of fly fishing is the one that stays
probably the most. Yep. Is that still your most downloaded up season two episode thirty five.
Yep, sexual fly fishing, Kate Watson Kayla Kat.
Yes. It is the most downloaded episode. And if you guys have listed of that one, it is good.
What we do is cover
you know, I think the the title speaks for itself. But that... There was a trend back when we we did that episode where we were... We were seeing more, like gripping grand fly fishing related videos with, like, bikini and and stuff like that, which is, I think,
great.
Yeah
It it gets clicks. I... You know, I don't really have a a strong opinion One way or the other on that because I think if you can convert those folks into passionate fly fisher people that then become conservation this.
I don't really care how they got got there. You know, if it if it was a click on a, you know, a bikini photo, then then so be it in my mind.
So that's that's one aspect of it. Now, the you know, the sexual centralization parts a completely different subject that I'm not willing to willing to or the world's changing.
We all have to make some pivoted. Yep. You know, we we gotta adjust.
Episode fifty was a California trap by Mike. I think that one was was a good one because I knew about Cal trap, but I didn't really understand, like, the projects and the the scope of the, of the company that, you know, is out there, and and he really just kinda laid it out and in a great way to and and actually, I just turned around and was became a member, like, instantly and and have donated to him since and
so California trial was... My was a good one. We also talk about... I think a lot of video shooting in that one too. Right? Like how he approaches it because he's one that he's, you know, one of their Guys. You got a call from your wife there, Jay.
It's a facetime. Why is it the start, this death start theme where it rings.
James captain James Stone, episode forty eight was I think one of the best episodes that we've done for, yeah. The period It just... It was just a association. All just an all around good episode that he broke down it It it wasn't favored towards
state or federal agencies. It it wasn't really favored towards Anglers. It was kind of just an all around just
educational piece that he did a really good job. Yeah. I mean, the thing of the thing that struck me about James is one he's he's smart and articulate, and he's just
really well
informed on a bunch of different topics that are, you know, critical to
what they're doing as an organization, and, you know, he's definitely the right guy for that role as as president.
For season two, Like, I I enjoyed Po and Lake ecosystems with Jeff Art Str that was season two episode sixty.
The reason is I'm a nerd and it got super super geek.
Just we talked about all kinds of different things and, like, you know...
How... What the importance of dissolved oxygen is in in a lake or stream or whatever. But, how how he manages it,
the balance that you have to maintain as, you know, whenever ever you maintain a artificial system,
you're kinda like God for that system, and and it was really interesting to hear how he does his job there.
So I think on season,
that's also... I think when we had A Johnson on for the first time. Right? I've gotta go back to
the.
And I've liked all of Howell episodes just because he's
he doesn't take himself super seriously, and he
he's fond
joke with, you know, and he's and he's pretty... Well, he's very, very knowledgeable and he's just willing to share his info.
And he's he's helped me a lot, I know he's helped Nick a lot, and I hope he's, you know, some of his insights of his resonated with the listener as well.
Three. Season three.
Any on... Anymore on two, Nick.
Mh.
Okay. They all start blurring together for...
You gotta go back listen and do a lot of them.
Yeah. Like, on, on three,
season three episode seventy eight, the tacos,
fish and special beers with
Mario
at taco Fly.
Started a tradition. I like that one a lot, and here's why.
The only way that this industry is gonna grow is if we
you know, are a lot more inclusive as a community.
And Mario's brand and Mario himself is kind of em embody that that spirit.
So that's why I like, I like that episode a lot. He's got an infectious attitude for the sport, and he's just a great guy to know.
And, you know, he's... That's why he's doing well. People believe in what he's doing
us to so Mario keep rolling.
Doing awesome. There's a lot of good ones in this one the on the water with ernie. I think I... My phone blew up after that post just people excited about doing more and more on the water episodes. Yeah. And and here That was a funny one.
Hearing about dirty ernie out. Awesome.
Jd, Jd Ritchie, human was just of wealth and knowledge and which Was if guys don't follow him, you should. He he puts out a lot of good content, just good information. Whether you... And it's mostly conventional england, which is fine, but, he just... He has a really good understanding he puts out. He puts little video cameras down the water and gets a lot of neat takes from Salmon and and different. He's one of my favorite... Favorite guys to to... To what to follow on Instagram and he was one of our our better guests for sure.
I I also liked episode
seventy nine. We're talking Season three. So episode seventy nine forging fish from Steel with Steve Nielsen.
The reason I like that one is
this dude's commitment to his craft is something everybody can take a page from. And I know you're shaking your head,
Jason, I, I'm sure you agree just from a a chef's perspective. Yeah. The passion of this guy. Yeah. It's unbelievable. Yeah. Yeah. And I mean, his his stuff. I mean, I can't afford, but if you can't afford it, you you should consider having something in your house,
if you haven't listened to that up episode, you should. Like, if you're, like, thinking about a new career or you're in your existing career that you like, this dude,
you know, kind of... He's kinda like the gold standard for... I I think,
work a thick in dedication, you could say, as an understatement.
What... Did you... Would you think of a, season three episode eighty two with Deck Hogan Nick, the thirty years of Space vision, Yeah. Now. He... He's one of those guys that it just has
such a passion for swinging for steel head that it's so infectious. And when you're hanging around him and or just talking fishing. You just wanna do it all night, drinking whiskey, hanging out by a fire. I mean, you he was off awesome. He was a cool cool guy to talk with. Yeah. Yep.
The the rein reproduction of Chin into the mc mcleod with
Noah, Noah is John Ambrose, that's season three episode eighty five.
That was one of, you know, one for me that kind of left an impact because,
you know, that's a that's a river system Fish quite a bit, and the the the the activity that they're they're doing up there is you know, important. And
interesting at the same time,
if that's successful, you know, it could could be
applied to other areas in in the Us. So I like that episode a lot.
John as a guest. I mean, Jeez could host his own show. He's got the voice you know, his voice is amazing.
Andy he's a pretty good looking guy too On.
John?
I'm sorry. I was thinking I was thinking about Mike Mer. Sir then so I was morning.
No. But that was a fun episode with him. That was a great up. My Mike
Mike just world class and
again, wealth in knowledge. It was it was a treat to be able to sit down and and pick his brain about a few things. What what episode was the mercer one? Seventy one. Seventy one.
And then the next one... Or before that was, Carson Jeff sub abduction with Salmon.
I think that was just a a kinda eye opener to hear about, you know, some of the fisheries science and and things that uc see Davis is doing...
You're talking about
the the raising salmon and Rice fields one. Yep. Okay. Yeah. Season three episode seventy. Yep. Which we'll be bringing more information on it here... It's funny. We've had about a seventy percent overlap on our favorites, and we didn't even talk before this about our favorites.
Yeah. I mean, I I like the the raising Salmon and Rice fields episode a lot because what they're... What the team's doing
is super innovative.
They're also striking a balance between
you know, the ecosystem requirements of these fish and the commercial requirements of the humans. Right? And finding a middle ground. And that's why that that that's some very innovative
thinking and planning, and, hopefully,
that catches on. If you guys haven't listened to that episode,
definitely listen to it, give them support so they can make this happen all up and down the
the the the California Valley, and then hopefully, those best practices can be pushed on to other states and possibly around the world. It's really really important stuff.
That's season two episode. Oh, no. It's not. It's season three episode seventy.
What else?
That's all I have. Like other than just saying to all of our guests. Thank you very much. Yeah. Tell on the show.
So... Yeah. If you're a new listener, or I think you can go on the website, and if you're into conservation, you guys have them grouped kind of for conservation. Right? Do you guys have in groups, got guides or on the water. Yeah. Yeah. There's a... There's a link If you go to any of the guest pages on the bottom, it says all guest, little button. If you hit that, we... There's a entire guest directory, and then they're they're kinda grouped by by, title. So if you wanna do to see the ent op epidemiologists or if you just wanted to see the
the... I don't know, biologists or whatever you. All the waters on waters. Yeah. So new listeners real easy to just kind of find what's in your wheelhouse and go listen to it. Yep. Yep. You know. I think it's just podcast barb dot c o forward slash guests.
That'll get you there. Joe Lu arc and and,
Tim Fox are also to... Yeah.
Obviously, just good friends, but I I enjoyed their their... Tim so funny. He's just a good good guy. If you wanna go,
have a laugh and good time on on the order river. He's a good guy to go to go book.
Yeah. And then I also wanna give, thanks to Hogan Brown as well. Yes. For the guy been, you know, best behind the scenes he's kind of like my
you, my adviser.
You know, I I call him all the time and and bounce ideas off of him, or he just gives
good advice on how to navigate the the water, the fly fishing waters.
So thanks, How again for all your support and insight and also, if you guys listening are into,
you know, helping little kids out. They... They... He's part of an organization called Cast hope, and you should look them up online, give them your support either donate or or a, you know, volunteer to
take kids on trips, we just did one
with them with Deer Creek recently.
So, you know, it's four hours out of your day and
last last a lifetime from a kid's perspective that memory.
Yeah. I mean, that's that's all I gotta say on the on the the look back portion of this podcast there.
Jason. God. There's an episode that should be in season three. That wasn't because you've you forgot the Sim code. Oh, jeez I know, man. It would have been my favorite. I was the one Was looking those on the watch genre yeah on the water up is so On the,
he said he's gonna come down. He's it's, like, Uber busy season for him, but we'll and get him on the sort of on... Really dynamic.
Yeah. Super knowledgeable. Alright. Looking looking into the future of barb podcast. Where do you guys see this thing going? What would you got planned? What do we have planned? Well,
we've already kind of... We're trying to get out of outside of California a little bit, and we've already been doing that,
you know, talking to people like Christian Pre.
What a name?
You've got a name like that. You got.
But... Yeah. Just opening that... We have a lot of listeners all over the world, and we'd like to talk about some of the the issues that and and fun things that they see in their local waters. Yeah. So expanding the the podcast into different
geographic areas would be. Yeah. It's definitely a goal. As the... Any long time listener knows, we started out very.
Very focused on Northern California because we wanted to basically talk about stuff. We kinda had an night... We we kinda knew.
But there's only so much territory you can cover in a small area geographically. So Yeah. We wanna just expand the expand the reach of it, try and grow the audience out, you know, as well in at the same time.
In terms of guests
in terms of content, it's gonna be, you know, same sort of formula a little mix of on the waters.
A mix of you know, guides, mix of
fisheries management science people because they're they're part of this this whole equation when we talk about fishing.
And, you know, more of the same, just
different areas. You know, that you guys might not have heard of heard of. You, you know, we do wanna work our way down California also, there's a whole, you know, the whole San Joaquin Valley
and and lower, you know, we haven't really touched on yet.
It's a lot to cover. Ton. You guys have a lifetime of work ahead you. Yeah.
And we're looking forward doing it. You wanna take over for a little bit? Absolutely. So I can go do some destination travel. As interesting.
You're deal on the water something right.
And then, you know, in in this hundred episodes also, noteworthy because
if you guys haven't them listen to Stripe episode yet,
there's a a new
advertiser sponsor, slash sponsor, cal route.
They are... You know, they came board recently, and they're gonna run over the next six months. So you'll you'll hear their ad. It's fifteen seconds long, plus or minus a second. And if you believe in in this podcast and what they're doing and you wanna keep us. Going,
please consider becoming a member of cal.
Absolutely. That's a huge milestone for a podcast to get off the ground and. Oh my sponsor. Dude we're in the now one percent because we a sponsor.
Kinda weird. But, I don't know. How many people are listening that know that you guys run full companies and your dads and your husbands and you you guys do this stuff while My dad as far as Do you know something. I don't? No. But I don't know. But I'm just saying you guys you guys have full time jobs. You guys work a lot going you guys are doing this building this brand,
self funding this podcast,
very expensive if people don't realize and to get this sponsor is awesome.
Yeah. I mean, it does definitely helps cover the operational costs for sure. On we're not lining our pockets with cash and taken to the bank, but it does cover, you know, the editor and stuff like Cal, you know, the people,
fish in water. Yep. And and I've said it numerous times on this this show that I think now more than ever people are getting together to help our fisheries and work together to make these fisheries a a a better place for our next generations to to come and enjoy. Yeah. And cal at the forefront of that they're they're doing things that nobody's doing and and they're right in the middle of it all and and doing a fantastic job. So definitely
pause this, get on your phone and and just join. It's super easy. Super simple, and it's gonna it's gonna help more than you can possibly imagine.
Yep.
Get up there, join Cal trout.
Great stuff. So there's a brand... The barb dot c is the brand, and you guys the podcast is part of that brand. You guys are building this entire
brand and aside from the podcast while you're doing it, You know, you're you're kind of tagline
mission statement, no better fish better. You wanna dive into that, Chad? Yeah. Sure. So
It's a dual meeting,
no better fish better on from one aspect is is, like, an education message. So if you if you know better, you will fish better. Right? So if you know, if you you know more about tactics and why whatnot. You're obviously gonna be be fishing better. The other the other meaning for the for that tagline is more about conservation. So no better fish better,
than example would be if you know what a red looks like. You're less likely to step on the red. Therefore, the fish will be better because of it. So that's the conservation message.
It's trying to just, like, educate people about the ecosystem and the environments that they fishing as well. That's why we have scientists on. That's why we have all these folks that are really passionate about their about conservation on.
Does that make sense? Yeah. And I mean, I look at it. And I like, okay. No better, fish better. I go into your rig
app or your flows app. I have more knowledge I'm it a fish better. Yeah. So it's education the conservation or, like, the two kinda like, pillars if you wanna look at it that way?
So these guys are working on and have launched...
The rigs is out there. Yeah. Yeah. They're the part of the web is funny, we have we have some software that's out there, with we don't really market it yet, because we're not... I'm I'm not a marketer or Nick's not a marketer, so it's tough. That way. We're doing our best. But,
rigs, if you guys aren't aware of it. It's on the website. You click on the link at the the top there.
If it's it's more...
There's there's pros and Joe's in the in the industry. And this is definitely
kind of a thing for both those those types of users,
on the pro side, it's more of a marketing vehicle and knowledge sharing platform.
But on the Joe's side, it's more of a learning platform. So to kinda like, parse it a little bit little bit more.
It's basically a way to understand
how to construct a leader, which is, you know, that that last critical
six to nine to twelve feet of from from your fly line down to the fly,
to craft a leader for a specific situation to target a specific species.
It's it's set up kinda like Google Maps, so you can zoom in and zoom out. You get a macro micro view of the whole system.
Any knots in the system, it shows you what they are how to tie them, all the components you would need a build list if you need it.
You can you can take somebody else's
leader and
spin it up and create a different version of it based on their idea. If you do that, than the person that you kind of took that idea from gets attribution. So they get credit.
The whole system set up as a... As basically a user, a community
website to share leader formulas as rigs ideas.
We put it together because up until that point,
if you go and search for trial rigs for anything. It's all just kinda like handwritten and then pictures taken off Napkins and uploaded it on the Internet somewhere. So there was no real... There was no real,
structure or language if you will, on how how these systems are are communicated. Does that make sense? Absolutely. Cool. Yeah. I like it. So that's at reg dot barb dot c o.
And then you got flows
in beta?
Flows in beta. We've got about two hundred and fifty people testing it right now. And these are mainly pros that are testing it. It's. It's pros next. Frozen and bonus. Yep. Yep. So flows is,
flows an aptly built on top of,
the Us gi, Nell Cd decks, gauge stations that are all across the United States. And if you don't know what a gauge station is picture it as, like, a thermometer on your engine on your, you know, your dashboard.
It measures the flow water.
Each one of those gauge stations has
has,
I think they transmitted it by radio, but the data comes off of those gauge station. It goes to radio or some somewhere.
And eventually ends up in in several different endpoints, and
you can get that information,
and look at, like, you know, how fast the river flying how high it is.
There's certain gauge stations that talk about temperature, t
a dissolved oxygen content, all this stuff. All that stuff across the Us, all that data,
fisheries management, people use it,
guides use it a lot. So we're trying to like,
you know,
make it a little bit more user friendly and approachable because it's so... It is very important information. It's just very it's extremely difficult right now to, like, parse that information in in a meaningful way. So the flow app is a is an iphone app and an Android app. We actually have the Android build ready. Now. We're gonna be distributing in that, like, really, really soon,
where
you can follow Rivers much like you can follow
people on Instagram. And then upload your own cover photos to that particular,
gauge station or river so to customize it, make it familiar to you.
And then just follow those rivers like you would follow people and and keep track of,
where they're at flow wise.
It it gives you can do notifications on it, it's a bunch of stuff. So I could put a notification in. Like, if I only wanna, you know, float this river between twenty five hundred and thirty seven hundred c Cf.
I'll get a push notification when the river drops into that that shape. You could say. We got a bunch of stuff planned for that, but that's a whole another podcast.
But the the key thing here
is that flows,
the data that we're collecting is from a bunch of different sources
aggregated
and then made available in a really easy easy app. And that data that we're collecting,
we're actually gonna be using... Putting into different
context,
user experience context to do different things.
I'll just leave it at that. Yeah. It's cool stuff. I mean, Chad got twenty five years of experience in this, and he's bringing all this to the fishing world where I don't think the fishing world scene
an app quality like this. You know, most guys who have an idea They have fifty thousand to throw out of it, whatever comes out comes out. This is kinda like a a real high tech, well thought whole design team
architect,
going through small team behind it and and and next like, kind of the the litmus test to make sure it's it's it's evolved relative to on on our rails. You know. It's heading in one direction, and we've we've modified it to go Yeah. Kind of a different way and and I think it's it's gonna
add the most value to the users in the end, you know, that's what it's all about is for those about... For those users and our guests, our clients, everybody, our friends
to be able to get a lot of value out of these things.
Awesome, Guys. Awesome.
Looks like you guys got some hats.
Yeah...
Everyone, I know that fish fisher has one. There's like there's, like, three hundred hats over there waiting to be... You can put online.
Yeah. So,
we're gonna have a new section on the site called gear. It's basically the shopping section of site, so it'll all be brand stuff. We didn't even wanna do it, but we started getting... Started getting emails and and Dms from people saying, hey, can I get a hat and we're like, alright, I guess, we're gonna get the apparel game just a little bit? But, anyway, you'll be able to buy,
hats shirts and and some other stuff down the road
soon. We're we're on the final stages of getting the commerce website,
stood up, and we we actually posted some stuff last week
on our Instagram story, that could be kind of a sneak peek at what that looks like. Because of your knowledge and history in this industry, you've... You were able to talk to some some other leaders in the industry and and get a brand or a logo that is little bitch and that people like. You know? And that was that was a big part of it too. Our our logo was designed by one of the designers at Nike
which just pretty cool. Yeah Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I can't... I haven't been on a river with these guys in two years. We're at least three people haven't come up. Like, you're the guys some Barb.
Yeah. It's pretty cool. Like, we're getting...
It... It's funny because, like, I'll, we'll have friends that are wearing the hats that we do let out in the wild. They'll they'll they'll come back and they'll be, like, dude at the bar and, like, three people came up and ask me about the hat, and I'm like, were they anglers and they're like, no. They just like the mark and I'm fucking cool. I can't go through Dutch without three chicks asking me for a hat. Yeah. That's just a way to get to your wallet though, buddy.
Believe anything those dutch for materials tell you.
Yeah. So... Yeah. That's the the... There's gonna be a whole a shopping section on the site. Where... You know, we we try and do everything really well and what's taken a little bit longer than than normal because there's a lot of little... When you... Anybody that knows that has our own e commerce side knows. There's a lot of karen love and feeding that goes into these things. So we'll get it out when we get it out, but we're
moving as fast as we can.
Great. Great. And you guys got a journal coming up? Yeah. What what's that about? The journal Do you wanna talk about the journal nick?
Yeah. I mean,
just to... There's are some different things out there, but I think Ours is gonna set the set the bar pretty high when when you guys see it just because, again, if Chad knowledge in this industry. He's... He's doing things that other big companies are doing, but applying it to the fishing industry. So it's it's gonna be bitch and when you guys see it. And it just goes back to our dad's, you know, writing crap down. You know, we're gonna... In those little journals they put it in on paper and and, you know, it's just... It's it hasn't worked out. We're gonna make it a lot easier for people to
track their success and and failures,
you know, when they're out on the water and be able to just put that on onto one, you know, one tablet or one phone and be able to look at it over a a long period of time.
And just like this show, all the knowledge that we've been putting out there. It's gonna be the same thing, but in your pocket, you know, and something that's just private for you to be able to use.
Yeah. I I I wanna say more, but I don't know if we should yet. Right? You know. Because they're there's,
let's not. Yeah. We'll wait. Yeah.
Can we talk to Crm because I'm pretty excited about that one. Absolutely. Customer relationship management? Yeah. Sounds super Crm.
And already super and boring, but here's the deal Okay guys,
you know, we're...
Conservation is a big part of what we're doing.
And we've got it. We've built a platform
for
folks that are in into conservation that that have donors. Right?
That need some better way to manage their donor database
versus how it's being done how they're doing it today, whether that be Salesforce or if it's in,
you know, it's in a spreadsheet or it's just in some other Crm that's not really purpose built specifically for conservation and and donor
relationship management.
We've got
of, we're very, very close. And this is why
everything's taking long a long time to do because we've got multiple product tracks going at the same time, and we're trying to build an entire
brand platform
ecosystem to to do all this at the same time. So there's a lot of of spinning plates going on, but this is one of the bigger plates
one that I'm personally really excited about.
Anyway, so folks like Cal or Western waters service. Or anyone that has donors and has to manage donor
relationships,
we'll be able to use this platform
and completely track, you know, every touch point they've had with each one of their donors,
their donor history, any notes about that donor,
they'll be able to actually put all their their payments auto automated payments so that they no longer have to send
mail snail mail campaigns out with, you know, credit card receipts to mail back in. It's just the whole process right now. What we're seeing is it's very
very old school. Very difficult. We wanna bring everybody up into the new age and put analytics around everything call this and and help everybody do stuff that, you know, should should just be, like, the easy thing to do and and and the hard stuff is actually managing the the relationship and getting someone need to contribute to your cause. It shouldn't be about, you know, trying to do a bunch of paperwork to, you know, do a pivot table on on some crazy spreadsheet because you don't have a good system to do it. So
that's gonna be up pretty soon. We're talking to a few people
about beta testing. If you're interested, send us an email,
fish on at barb dot c, or if you know someone that has a... Has,
a
nonprofit that they wanna they wanna try it out. So pretty much anyone that's collecting donations currently.
Within
observation space. You have new software. It's gonna make it
way easier. Yes. And they can spend more time with the people. Yeah. And finding donors and and mass ass those clients rather than doing all the paperwork...
Thank you, Jason. Can you be our spokesman because I already. I always talk You had to get it down to the Sandbox level. Yeah. Sorry.
Yeah.
We have to thank our listeners
as we thanked our guests on the show, we have to thank our listeners because they've also come back and and given us a lot of feedback on on all these products and things. And and even ideas for the show and without... Again, without you guys, this this wouldn't be where it's at. So we really really appreciate it. Thank you very much for making that point.
Feedback the brand to it's critical Right you on the restaurant. You know. A hundred percent. You need to get the bad. I wanna hear it all. And that's why those... That... That's why we do these beta tests you guys,
or every one of you guys are super important that are doing the beta testing. And if there's any little id sync
anything that you just... Your Spidey sense is tingling for the wrong reason. Let us know because that's the kind of stuff we wanna fix. Okay? And we're dedicated to make this stuff
great and delight you guys.
What else?
Good stuff. What about, we got brand partnerships. Yeah. We're gonna... We're we're talking to, you know, we're we're in the early stages Just talking to people about,
growing our audience and kind of one way to do that through brand, you know,
aligning with a another brand that's
philosophically
on the same page as you from a conservation perspective or whatever that may be and doing things together, you know, leveraging each other's audiences and hopefully cross poll, We're gonna be doing
some stuff down the road in the next... I don't know, two to six months where you'll see stuff like that come up. I don't wanna say which brands you, but we're working through it. That's great. Yeah. Barb is becoming a major player in this
I wouldn't go out. This world. Absolutely. You guys you guys are stepping it up. I I really believe... It still trips me out when I'm walking down the in a near with, you know, a bunch of people around or I go to a store and I start talking or and say something and then people
say my name, and I'm like, I have no idea who this person is and they they hear my voice and they're like, who what the it just trips me out. You got a very distinct voice though. Well, it it's deep. I never thought I was gonna be on a podcast doing this crap, you know, like, especially with your shirt off. Right?
It's crazy that my grandfather was doing stuff like this in the sixties and it's come full circle and then yeah. On Mic, what some people don't know what you're talking about. He was... Well, he just... He hosted the Chico State basketball games from, like, sixty,
early sixties into late sixties, I think, something like that.
He was just a a radio guy, You know? And Think it it's funny. I, I didn't know it because I was too young, but, you know, like, here my dad tell the story about, you know, he'd get nervous, like, getting on on the mic, you know, and before alive, you know,
game going on. Yeah. It's just cool. And people to this day, like, remember that him and that name and
you know, what he did, and it's just cool to kinda follow those footsteps a little bit and even though it's on a different platform. But That's cool. Pretty. That's super cool. Pretty cool.
Good stuff. Yeah. Good stuff.
Absolutely.
You got series a round on here. So you guys have you guys have finished your angel investing. You, you're looking
Yeah. If you have a million dollars and you wanna... Are looking for somewhere to stick it besides one of my accounts,
Yeah. Come come talk to us. Yeah. I we... We... We're in the... You know, we're in the early early phases of getting getting corporate formation together that's gonna you know, that that's set up to take outside investment,
small series eight round. We don't know exactly what our our first round gonna be size wise. So that's why
we are still in the formation process of it. But you guys are looking to move this brand forward. Apps fucking really. Your podcast is gonna always be there, but the brand barb is so much more than the podcast. You guys got a lot of apps coming out. You. It's got a lot of stuff going on.
And it's cool to let people. Your listeners know that there's a lot more to this and the than just the podcast. Yeah you guys are working...
These guys work hard on this. I mean, there's a lot that goes into it. There's teams of people
it's good stuff.
Thanks, Dude. Good stuff.
Appreciate it.
Thanks for hosting. Yeah. Thank you. You doing a good job. Good listeners.
You did a really good job.
Yep.
Good call having him come on, Nick. Oh, yeah. I was there.
I was against it at first, but I again. Then I started thinking about it. You gotta you gotta think about it. Dream about it and then, okay. Yeah, that's that'll be good. That'll be good. Now we're gonna go Salmon for. She's a natural.
That's right.
Can't believe we Haven't caught a salmon yet this year. Okay. I when have a new boat. You haven't caught one either. Shame on you. I haven't dropped one of them. Oh, I've got a salmon story. I've totally forgot to tell you. So we just went out, like, two days ago, and we're going after Stripe It's me and Hunter, Derek.
Yeah. I always... He's got two first name two... Yeah. Yeah.
Hunter and I go, Hunters is in turning with us by the way, from meat market.
So Hunter and I go out, and we're going after Stripe obviously.
And I, like, it's getting late, and we're just not coming up with anything, and I I throw behind this behind this tree,
strip strip strip. I was sudden, boom, it just, like, lights up, and it's a salmon,
and it goes vertical.
Wait and I was like, I thought it was a snag at first, and then all sudden, it just goes apes shape. The water blows up. Salmon comes up. You could see his skype jaw, and we're like, oh, shit. I'm like, I'm freaked out. It scared me actually because I thought it was a log, and then all sudden came alive, and it pops loose and the fly comes flying at me, and we all started. We start laughing and it was pretty funny. Did you see where the fly was?
It I didn't tail. I I didn't... I didn't because it was just... It was like this big blow up and a saw. Typically when hunter might of. When a Salmon jumps like that, they're snag. They're snag. Yeah. Yeah. We... I was just trying to catch it stripe behind a log. Typically, not all the times. But it was in frog waters too. It was, like, really just kind of like,
slow, slowly water. That's where they move when when the native Americans are putting their nets out. They're... They all... They find that slow kind of back at area because that's the they know that they're the salmon are traveling up through. Okay.
So that's... They're they're moving. They're moving in and the rivers dropping so that they should be pushing in and trying to find that coolest deepest hole that they wanna go
hang out and... Yeah. I've only got Salmon caught on a fly rod and Hogan Brown did it on the Delta. Really those in the bunch.
I personally. Ryan did, oh, per.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I... Never have. Yeah.
Yeah. Never seen it. Never seen that in person, but it happens a lot. Well,
let's wrap this let's I'm sure the the listeners turn it off by now anyway, and there's probably maybe two people listening, But
do you...
